Ethan is in his fourth year at Oregon State University where he has been working towards his degree in instrumental performance of the guitar. Before college, Ethan lived in Central Florida until he was 11 and moved to Corvallis, Oregon. In Corvallis, he attended Ashbrook Private School where he participated in theatre and porch band music. He took a hiatus from the arts during highschool, until he rediscovered his passion for it in his senior year. In his time at Oregon State Ethan has studied aural skills, music theory, history/philosophy, production, education, and composition in addition to his performance studies. Ethan has gained substantial knowledge in how music has formed and become popular throughout the centuries, and has a particular interest in classical, romantic, and contemporary music. He has authored literature which explores baroque music, classical music, teaching philosophies, and various music repertoire. Under Dr. Cameron O’Connor, he has extensively studied and adapted music for the guitar through analysis, composition, arranging, and performing. He has arranged for and performed with the Oregon State Guitar Ensemble nearly every term he has attended Oregon State, and plays an increasingly active role in the Corvallis Guitar Society, performing, arranging, and mentoring younger players. In the future he plans to attend graduate school to receive his masters in music performance and composition so he can begin teaching in higher academia.
